today we will begin with vocabulary and slang: you will be working on the vocabulary packet, creating a crossword puzzle with your words. you will also be working on slang and creating a poster representing the book using some of the slang from the practice worksheet. stay tuned for details. Then, read following questions to consider for socratic seminar: 1. Ponyboy resisted having his hair cut. Why, do you think, did the greasers place such high value on their hair? What kind of connection can you make to this? 2. In what way did Johnny compare Dally to the Southern gentlemen in Gone with the Wind? Explain. 3. Explain the significance of Robert Frost's poem. 4. How did Bob's murder affect the relationship between the Soc's and the greasers? What surprising news did dally give Jonny and Ponyboy about Cherry? 5. Who do you think is worse off in this story right now? Why? 6. If you could give any character some advice, who would you give it to, and what would you say? i have consented to delay the quiz until Tuesday to accommodate your busy schedules. sew.....it would be wise if u were a grateful participant today in what we r going to work on. we will spend class reading ch. 5-6 and preparing for lit. circles. Homework: Lit. circle job and read ch. 5. Quiz: Your quiz will be over Ch. 1-5 (on Tue) good mourning!
Today we will begin with a journal prompt: Describe a time in your life (or someone you know) when you were faced with a dilemma that was difficult to decide how to respond. What made it difficult? What thoughts went through your mind? If you could do it all over again, would you change anything? Why/why not? Time: 8 min. Next we will review the vocabulary for ch. 1-4. Your group will be responsible for working together to create a game that includes each word and its meaning. u will play the game to practice for your test on thursday.
