Novel Study: We will begin this class using your homework from Thursday to use for Socratic Seminar. Also, please write three additional conversation-starter questions that you could ask the class during Socratic Seminar about Ch. 6-15 (in your journal). Next: Use the link in the button below to take a career interest survey. You will record your results in your journal and write a response to your results. How do you feel/think about your results? Why? When you finish this, please bring your journal to me. Read: Ch. 16-23 (finish the book) Then, you will be assigned one student in our class. You will keep this confidential. I will explain what you will do with this information shortly. Alternative Lesson: Ian Please work on ISIPS and then work on reading an EPIC story of your choice and write a summary about the story you read in 2 paragraphs. This is due on Thur. (2/27) at the beginning of class Homework: Novel Study: Finish reading Ch. 16-23 and the job assignment (due Thur.) Thursday's Agenda: Novel Study: Today you will reveal the assignment that you gave to your peer. 1. Meet with your secret eet and discuss the reason that you assigned your peer that job. Be prepared to share your thinking with the group. Then, you will be given the final questions for the book. You will choose 3 out of the 5 options to complete for Tuesday (3/3). We will watch the movie on Tuesday and compare the book to the movie. Alternative Lesson: Ian Please hand in homework from Tuesday (paragraphs), and then work on ISIPS. No homework tonight. ISIPS: Today you will begin with ISIPS reading. Remember that I will be conferencing with you about your progress, and this will determine your pull-out requirements, so take your time and do your best. Novel Study: You will begin reading The Giver independently in class today. As you read, fill out the vocabulary graphic organizer. Also, as you read the book, fill out the graphic organizer on the next page that lists the roles that are assigned at each age. Please be specific. This will be due at the beginning of class on Thur. (2/20). If you need to check out a book, please do so. Alternative Lesson: Ian Please work on ISIPS and then work on reading an EPIC story of your choice and write a summary about the story you read in 2 paragraphs. This is due on Thur. Thursday's Agenda: ISIPS: Today I will conference with you about your ISIPS results. Written Response: Choose ONE of the questions from Ch. 1-5 to respond to (I will hand this to you). Write your response in a complete paragraph. This will lead to a whole-group discussion. We will also review the age events in the book and discuss the vocabulary assignment from Tue., and I will check for completion. Novel Study: We will discuss your homework from Tue. and I will check for completion. You will continue reading The Giver independently in class today. Your assignment is to read Ch. 6-15. As you read, fill out the vocabulary graphic organizer for Ch. 6-10. Activity: Each person will be assigned a student in the class. You will then consider which role you would assign them to (from the novel) and answer the question sheet that goes along with this.
