this morning we r going to begin by sharing r categories. i will be asking some of u to share and the class will guess your labels. 10:30-u will either go to the library, read in class, finish Roald Dahl posters or work on istation 10:45-we will read ch. 1-2 in our new novel together! hello!
this morning u will need your Alaska questions in front of you, along with your journal labeled with todays date. we will share your thoughts and predictions about the story and Alaska. Novel Study: 1. Review Alaska research 2. List Group Label: Place each of the following words in your journal in a word bank: skiff, omen, floatplane, justice, banish, totem pole, detainee, blame, detention, reputation, forgiveness, guilty, island, Alaska, bay, freedom, supplies, outbound, privileges, sponsor. Then, place each word into a category (minimum of three categories (no "other" category). Label each category. Then, share categories with a buddy (cover the label) and see if they can guess your label. Have them write their guesses in your journal. 3. We will read Ch. 1-2 partially together. 4. You will be assigned a lit. circle job. This will need to be taped in your journal and will be due at the beginning of class on Friday. Also, prepare for a mini-quiz over Ch. 1-2 on Friday as well. we r going to begin with writing under pressure! woot! woot! have a pencil on you're desk, but we will give u a peace of paper to right on. :) after that u will hand in your journals so i can check to make sure u r up to speed with your wtg and i will also check your close read assignment (marking the bullying article and writing your own solution to bullying. we will share those ideas as a class. next we will finish ISIPS. hello!
please make sure u hand in you're personal reflections for last week's socratic seminar by the end of class today. Novel Study: Should bullies be expelled? Think about this question, and I am going to ask you to take a stand (Yes/No). Next, we r going to read an article and I will ask you to take a stand again based on what you read. Homework: As you read the article: 1. Highlight/underline the two most powerful ideas from the article. 2. Put a frown face by anything you disagree with. 3.
