good morning!
today we will begin with a Characterization Lesson. Each group will need 1 expo marker and 1 folder with paper in it. send 1 rep. to get a marker + 1 two get a folder from Lizzy's desk. please don't open the folder yet. Next, we will revisit what we already knew about the Civil War. I will then ask your group to revise the back board (the ACTUALLY) side. Brochures: include the following sections: History of Missouri, Geographical Location and Climate, information about Mark Twain etc. Be as creative as you can be, and be certain to include illustrations, maps, diagrams, advertisements, etc. to illustrate what you have learned. (Please help each other, but do your own work). Sharing: Each person in the group will share their brochures by passing them, making comments on sticky notes, and then passing them again until each person in the group has seen every other brochure. You may choose to ask a question or make an informative comment on the sticky note...be certain to sign your name). Truth/Untruth: After brochures have been shared, each group will come up with one truth and one untrue statement to make about the civil war. u will then ask Mr. Pratt and Mrs. McCoy if they can determine which is true and which is not true. If Mr. Pratt and Mrs. McCoy are NOT currently at your group, your job is to do the following journal entry: Journal: Date: Focus: Vocabulary Preview Prompt: Write the following words in your journal, define each word (you may use a dictionary but re-write in your own words), and use in a sentence. Sentence______________________ anatomy apprehensively beguiled loathe perplexed reluctance turmoil wily Then, we will read Ch. 1 as a class (fill free to pre-read if you have time) and begin filling in a character chart for the characters introduced in Ch. 1.
