ELA Writing Essentials 4

Welcome Back!
Today we will begin discussing Genius Hour and then move into practicing for WTG before we take the test. When you finish your test, please hand it into the pocket and then either volunteer to grade, or begin working on Genius Hour topics or next week's WTG or Spelling City, or Whirly Word. Journals will be graded on Tuesday. Journal Prompt: Date: 9.4.18 Focus: Using vocabulary words in completely accurate writing Prompt: Describe your ideal future using at least 3 WTG words (from lessons 1 or 2) in your writing. Be certain to check your writing for complete grammatical accuracy, and underline your WTG words. Time: 15 min. Editing: Attach your editing sheet into your journal (tape/staple) and correct the errors using the editing guide on the side. We will review editing marks. When you finish, please move on to finishing your article (see below). Reading: We will preview text as a class. Then we will continue reading by discussing the articles you read from last week. 1. Meet in a group (all students having read different articles) 2. Share the highlights of the article you read 3. As a group, you will respond by deciding on the career you believe to be the worst, and will write a job description for that position. Stay tuned for more info.
